When GS1 approached GlaxoSmithKline NZ (GSK NZ) about its readiness for the DHB National Catalogue (DHBNC), GSK NZ turned to Bizcaps for its expertise in creating and maintaining GS1net Catalogues. Bizcaps was able to simplify the process for GSK NZ, relying on its extensive experience with the data fields required and the associated validation rules. Work previously undertaken for the Australian GSK business was leveraged and unique requirements for GSK’s NZ market were easily addressed.
This business partnership let GSK NZ take care of its data while Bizcaps took care of the technical details and implementation. According to Supply Chain Operations Manager Graeme McInnes, “Bizcaps’ experience in this field meant that the many variations requested by GS1 NZ were able to be responded to directly without GSK NZ resources being impacted.” Bizcaps managed the entire validation process through to GS1 Ready.
Product data synchronisation between trading partners, via GDSN-compliant datapools such as GS1net, the National Product Catalogue (NPC) and the DHBNC, is the key to reducing healthcare costs, improving patient safety and improving supply chain efficiency for suppliers by reducing order errors, time to market and costly claims.
Having completed this process, GSK NZ is now ready to provide its customers with electronic product and pricing information, facilitating electronic trading and delivering a more efficient supply chain.
