Foundation members of the MCIS User Group meet in Sydney Public Health agencies in four jurisdictions, NSW, Victoria, ACT and the Northern Territory have formed, in association with the National E-Health Transition Authority (NEHTA) and GS1, an MCIS User Group to contribute to the development of the capabilities of the solution and to share innovations. Bizcaps developed the Master Catalogue Information System (MCIS) and was instrumental in bringing these parties together.The MCIS User Group’s objectives are:
• to explore commonality in the use of software application (MCIS/VPC) for master catalogue management and NPC implementation;
• to explore the feasibility of coordinating future enhancements/developments; and
• to explore opportunities of sharing application, expertise and knowledgebase to other health jurisdictions with similar requirements.The second meeting of the MCIS User Group was held in Sydney in March and attended by the foundation members: ACT Health, HealthShare NSW, Health Purchasing Victoria, NT Health, the National E-Health Transition Authority (NEHTA) and GS1 Australia. The User Group is receiving interest in MCIS from jurisdictions beyond its current membership, and there are plans for inter jurisdictional interoperability via a common catalogue framework. The next meeting will be held on 24 June 2014.
