The global ingredients supplier quickly saw the benefits of moving to the online PIF V6. Four years on, they’re realising tangible savings and farewelling spreadsheet PIFs forever.
Chr. Hansen was founded on science and innovation in 1874, and research and innovation are still at the centre of everything it does. The company is a global supplier of bioscience-based ingredients to the food, health and animal feed industry, and a key focus is improving existing platforms to meet its customers’ future needs.
Unsurprisingly, Chr. Hansen was an early-adopter when the first online Product Information Form (PIF V6) was released, impressed by its state-of-the art functionality and security. In her role as Quality & Business Support – Supply Chain ANZ, Marianne Bonaddio led the transition from the Excel-based V5 PIF to the online version which is managed and shared via the PIF Manager™ portal.
“It’s so simple to use,” Marianne explains. “It’s definitely saving us time, minimising manual data entry and preventing the errors that can creep in with that.
“Where we are seeing significant time-saving is in PIF Manager’s ability to create mass updates, where changes are automatically reflected across multiple products instantaneously. And whenever a PIF is updated, every one of our customers who has purchased that product and has access to a V6 portal is automatically notified of the update.”
As with any new system, there was some initial uncertainty as the company began the transition to PIF V6, but it has been so successful that Chr. Hansen recently stopped using the old V5 PIFs completely.
“PIF V5 is no longer supported by the Australian Food & Grocery Council (AFGC), so we’re very happy to focus on moving ahead with the updated PIF V6.1.
“I can’t speak any more highly of the support we’ve had from the team at Bizcaps Software as we made the transition from Excel PIFs to the online PIF portal. Of course there was the odd teething issue in the beginning – and Bizcaps was right there whenever we needed any help.”
