The AFGC has brought together industry leaders to form the PIF Implementation Group, helping food companies big and small adopt the V6 PIF. The group will develop a range of case studies and resources, and share everything you need to know to make a smooth transition to the online PIF.

Leading V6 PIF users CHR Hansen, Fonterra, Goodman Fielder, HJ Langdon, Kellogg’s, Kerry Ingredients and Mars form the group, and are working with the AFGC and the three V6 PIF portal software vendors – Bizcaps Software, Hamilton Grant and Oakbarrel Software – to help companies implementing PIF V6.

Keen to promote the widespread uptake of the PIF V6 across all relevant industry sectors and to share information relevant to the PIF-user community, the group is currently finalising a Guide to implementing and working with PIF V6, based on their shared experiences.

This handy resource is being developed by the industry, for the industry, and will bring together all the tips, strategies and explanations these industry leaders wished they’d known back when they first started implementing the online PIF V6.

The Guide is designed to assist a wide range of companies, from those only just considering the implementation of PIF V6 through to those who have already embarked on their project. It will include sections to assist with:

  • building a business case for your transition to PIF V6
  • identifying benefits and roadblocks relevant to your business
  • efficiently implementing PIF V6, minimising disruption to your operations and improving compliance
  • identifying other systems that may need to be integrated or changed to ensure your product information management system works seamlessly
  • gathering and maintaining data, and evaluating the available software.

Stay tuned – the guide will be published on the AFGC website as soon as it’s available.

While the AFGC retains responsibility for developing the various forms that comprise the PIF, the Group is also providing advice on a Facilities Information Form – and is working closely with the software vendors to ensure that this form is optimised for industry use.
