The AFGC (Australian Food & Grocery Council) have asked Bizcaps to build a “PIF Portal” for use by the AFGC members.

The PIF (Product Information Form) is an industry-agreed questionnaire intended to be used by companies to provide a wide variety of information about food products and ingredients in a single document that meets the information needs for legal and regulatory compliance. In the period since the PIF was last reviewed there have been a number of changes in Australian laws and regulations that impact on the content of the PIF. In addition, the current PIF in Excel platform is no longer capable of delivering the functionality expected by users. As such the PIF is being translated to a business-to-business software solution to replace the current Excel spreadsheet.

Bizcaps are developing an ePIF Portal which will enable members to create, store, save, send, receive and search on PIFs: the Bizcaps PIF Portal.

The portal will produce PIF v6.0, and will take v5.0 PIFs and convert them to v6.0.

Bizcaps: helping you to collect, maintain & exchange accurate & validated product information

PIF V6.0 has been updated to account for the revised ANZ Food Standards Code, which came into effect on 1 March 2016 and the Country of Origin labelling requirements, which came into effect on 1 July 2016. In addition, PIF V6.0 can be used for finished products as well as ingredients.

PIF V6.0 has been developed to streamline the process of recording and reporting product information, making it easier and faster to use. There will be no longer be a need to retype information from Supplier and Customer PIFs into company systems as the information will be able to be exchanged between companies via PIF portals. Furthermore, information stored in a company’s PIF portal will be searchable, enabling much better use of data than what is possible with the current standalone, Excel PIFs.
